Germany Geocoin - National Geopark Swabian Alb

Die "National Geopark Swabian Alb-Geocoin" gehört zur "Germany Geocoin"-Serie, die vom Grünen Forum Anfang 2006 initiiert wurde.
Die 2 Nautilus-Versionen (insgesamt 500 Stück) erschienen in Antik Silber und Two-Tone Gold-Silber (40 mm x 2,5 mm).

Während die Rückseite mit der German Geocoin identisch ist, zeigt die Front dieser Coin einen Ammoniten als typisches Fossil Süddeutschlands.
Ammoniten stellen seit ihrem ersten Auftreten im Unterdevon bis zu ihrem Aussterben am Ende der Kreide über einen Zeitraum von etwa 350 Millionen Jahren eine große Zahl der Leitfossilien. Sie sind für die Geologie und die Paläontologie daher von großer Bedeutung.
