About This Item

AMTG Irish Hunter GC 2

Mid size coin with lots of heft. 1.75 inches by 1.5 inches 3.25 mm thick gold.  50 coins minted.  Rectangular shape. The front has lots of enamel and line drawing.  The background is white enamel and has a line drawing of a dog with a clover in it's mouth. One of the leaves is heart shaped and done in red enamel.  The bottom is done in green enamel and has raised white enamel script that reads " Irish Terrier Forderverein". The reverse has excellent 3-D metal work and shows an Irish terrier. The background metal texture is brushed and the 3-D detail on the animal is excellent. The rim has raised 3-D script that says Irish-Hunter Geocaching since July 2005.  Very nice coin

Info on the coin:   From the designer....The coin consolidates my two major hobbies: My dog, an Irish Terrier and, of course, geocaching. The practical experience shows that it is possible to perfectly combine these two hobbies. On one side of the coin the head of my dog (3D) is displayed as well as the tracking no. (the coin will be traceable on geocaching.com), and on the other side the logo of a German Irish Terrier association whose member I am and from whom I got the authorisation for this project.

This association is aiming at the preservation of the health of the breed, and therefore is supporting corresponding research projects. My support of this organisation is US$ 1,--/per minted coin sold by me as well as some coins of each type as there are some crazy Irish Terrier item collectors.

An Irish Hunter dog, renowned for its keen sense of smell and boundless energy, is an excellent companion for geocaching adventures.  It's sharp instincts make it adept at navigating through diverse terrains, eagerly leading its owner to hidden treasures.s sharp instincts and natural curiosity make it adept at navigating through diverse terrains, eagerly leading its owner to hidden treasures.

All together 250 coins will be minted: 200 in silver and 50 LE in gold.

"Irish-Hunter" had a second geocoin made, the "Use Your Brain Geocoin", which has nothing to do with the name and icon of the actual Irish Hunter Geocoin. The "Use Your Brain" measures 44 x 5 mm and weighs 49 g and shows a human head without a skull with closed eyes on the front. On the nose line is the year of publication 2006. At the top is the coin title "Use Your Brain" and at the bottom "Geocaching!".

So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release new GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. CL

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
