Current Goal

To honor those who have worked the hardest or at least lasted the longest (there are reasons caches last a long time) by visiting the oldest Geocaches in each State. I started with the oldest cache in my home State of Arkansas, "Gorilla Stash" [GC1B] and I want to log one of them for each of my double and triple zero finds. So far I've been able to do that with #200=[GC1B], #300=[GC30] (*it's also the oldest active in the world*), #400=[GC90], #500=[GC132], #600=[GC39E], #700=[GC1D], #800=[GC126], #900=[GC62], #1,000=[GCGV0P] ("Original Stash Tribute Plaque") in Oregon where it all began. #1,100= [GCF4], #1,200= [GC28](3rd oldest in the world), #1,300=[GC162], #1,400=[GC943], #1,500=[GC70], #1,600= [GC551],  #1,700= [GC3F], #1,800= [GC763], #1,900=[GC191], #2,000=[GC23], #4,000=[GCF9],

June 17, 2013
Found it on a 5,000 mile geocaching road trip to include 3 State's oldest geocaches and 2 countries. This was the last of my goals for this trip, to honor the oldest caches, and I got it signed and was almost back to town before the rains hit. (Nothing like perfect timing huh?)
I thank you for placing this cache, it is those willing to hide and maintain that keep us all in the game.
L/2 geocoins and hotwheels car and playing cards and dipped a bug I carrying back to Arkansas plus dipped my Oldest Geocaches coin.

Being the oldest geocache in the State of California this was one of the 3 goals of this road trip, I drove around yesterday to see the area but didn't have time to hike out to the cache so did that this morning with plenty of time to enjoy all the plants and animals. Beautiful place to hike so I took one way in and another out.
Thanks for taking the time to place this cache, it is those willing to hide and maintain that keep us all in the game.

Below is a copy of my log for this visit to [GCF9] Nevada's oldest geocache:

#4,000
Since logging my 100th milestone find I have found a different State's oldest geocache for each of my 00 and 000 finds. The 1,000th was logging the Original Plaque in Oregon and 2,000th was logging Hawaii's oldest on my 65th birthday. It is not an official challenge, just one I made for myself and the timing is harder than any I have ever read about and each 100 finds takes me to a different State to honor the pioneers of the sport (obviously I'm not a power cacher). I knew this challenge would have to end sooner or later but this has been the only exception to this personal challenge because of the vast number of caches in the area. Bill and I did drive back up here just to log this one as my 4,000th find. Long may this one live and showcase this beautiful area of your State.
Thanks for placing this cache, it is those willing to hide and maintain that keep us all in the game.

Below is a copy of my log for this 2,000th find on 1/11/11 my 65th Birthday:

#2,000
On the day of my 100th find I made a goal for myself. I was going to use each of my 100th milestone finds to honor the pioneers of the sport by logging a different States oldest for each of my 00 and 000 finds. They are the ones who have been keeping these caches going the longest and so by default we know they chose a better method or location because it has survived all this time. So far I have been able to keep that goal and for my #2,000th find I have now logged Hawaii’s oldest, “Geocache” [GC23]. Seeing and logging this historic geocache, that is even old enough to be listed among the Worlds Oldest Geocaches, was indeed a treat and made that very long plane ride well worth the effort. Thanks for taking the time to place this cache and maintaining it all these years. May it live forever. Too many missing TBs here so I just dipped some but left nothing. T/ "AMTG Yellow Plane Car"

My goal is to honor the pioneers of the sport by logging a different State's oldest for each milestone find. I chose yours as my 1,900th. It took a drive of 924 miles but it was a great adventure and I thank you for keeping this alive.
This is a virtual but for those who enjoy the old tradition of a hand made stamp for letterbox hides I have carved a stamp for this one and placed it here with the owners permission. You will need to look at the images I've posted and bring your on ink pad. I hope you enjoy this new addition to New Mexico's oldest active geocache. PLEASE re-hide the stamp exactly as found.

[#1,800]
I made a goal for myself once I actually did reach 100 finds, to add some extra difficulty to my caching plus to honor the pioneers of the sport by logging a State's oldest for each of my milestone finds. So far I have been able to continue this and I chose your State's oldest for this 1,800th find.

[b]#1,700[/b]
After my 100th milestone find I decided to add an extra challenge to my geocaching and log a different States oldest geocache for each of my future milestone finds. Mostly to honor those who have been maintaining caches the longest, plus as an added bonus I get to enjoy the vast diversity of landscapes, people and weather in our amazing country. So far I have been able to maintain this goal and I chose your cache for my 1,700th find. Thanks for taking the time to place this cache and maintain it all these years, it was the second goal in my 5,200+ mile, 3 Canadian Provinces, 12 State geocaching and exploring road trip. [b]It is those who hide that keep us in the game so thanks for your time and effort.[/b] Long may it survive in this fantastic location.
