Park at N 41 19.039 W 074 48.051 on Old Bridge Rd. Check out the bald eagle's nest high in the tree to the right of the closed bridge on your way to the cache. We discovered this pleasant walk in “The Glen” during a mistaken, misdirected, miserable approach to another cache (which will go unmentioned). Cache is within 20 feet of the trail. If you can’t find the cache, at least enjoy the terrain and the rushing (or not, depending on the season) stream. Please replace the cache carefully in order to maintain the difficulty of the hide. Concerning the cache – don’t blame me, this isn’t my idea. We are merely copying some other diabolical (“diablo” is Spanish for devil) geocacher. Oh yes, bring your own pencil. GPS reception with a full tree cover is difficult. So, go ahead, use the hints. It will narrow your search significantly.
WARNING: There is a dead tree uphill from the cache. The cache is NOT THERE. Avoid the tree, it may be full of yellow jackets, depending on the season.

A WALK IN THE WOODS - PA

Spectacular vistas from these cactus cliffs in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Best and legal parking is off of Raymondskill Road at: N 41.17.406, W 74.50.464 (Home of the Million Dollar Toilet - your tax dollars at work.)

Be sure to visit the falls while you're there. A small trail continues upstream for a longer hike and more falls. The cache can be accessed from this roundabout route.

Use any of the many trails to the top, but please stay on the trails. Cliff Park, a private resort, owns parts of this area. They allow hikers as long as they stay on the trails.

Your mission is to privately email me these sightings from the cache co-ordinates to prove you were there: something tall and skinny and far away, something long and narrow and not very far away, something round and relatively close, one other distinctive feature which impresses you most.

Cactus Cliffs

Stage one was a public phone at the Pickerel Inn general store, but it was removed in December of '08. Use the keypad on any phone to get the numbers for stage two. Located in the Delaware State Forest. All five widely varied stages are near the road, but the final two may be behind a locked gate depending on the season. It will be a pleasant walk along a woods road if that is the case. The cache expires and will be removed in July of 2009.
Go to the above co-ordinates and convert 41 1G.MH x 75 0I.1K to all numbers. It should be obvious when you get there. While there you can fortify yourself for the quest ahead. The last cache we had in this area was stolen, so we made this one harder. If it separates the hard-core cachers from the wanna-bes and casual thieves, then so be it. Feel free to cantact me for additional hints.

Cave of the Bear Clan

The object at these coordinates once was located about 2.3 miles farther north, at the location given in the attached waypoint. When it was replaced, the old one was preserved here by relocating it here. After leaving this one, consider taking the short, picturesque drive up to Millrift multicache, Where Poppies Blow and Whistles Sing (GCTH57).

When you find this little guy, you might wonder in amazement that this cache container actually survived the last flood here.

Gateway to Millrift

We've been wanting to do this cache for months and finally got to it. An absolutely gorgeous spot for a cache. And a cheap shot for me to log a hard-to-get locationless.

Located on SGL, this cache meets my requirement to log GC5A04, thus the name. But I got lucky. It is such a lovely spot. You are looking for an ammo can among some fieldstone. There will be a nice big rock for you to stop, rest, sign the logbook, and make trades. As in all geocaching trade etiquette, please trade up or don't trade at all. If there is a TB in the cache, please trade with another TB. Also, please wear blaze orange during hunting season. We don't want to read about your demise in gc.com forums!


GC5A04 Requirement Cache

Located in historic Lackawaxen, PA. This is a multi-stage cache.

After visiting the "Man of Milford" cache, we were inspired to create one of our own, giving tribute to a local icon. This man put Lackawaxen on the map. He was not only a famous western novelist, but also wrote many short stories and essays about fishing in the area.

The first stage is a historical marker (feel free to explore the museum to learn more about this man). There is no cache at this location. The clues will give you the coordinates to the spot where he was laid to rest.

Man of Lackawaxen

This is a wonderful stone house that is the former residence of Marie Zimmermann, a famous artist. There also is an old farm with a house and and old barn, part of which is also made of stone. The house is a pleasant 1/2 mile walk along a NPS dirt road off of route 209. You would never know it was there. I stumbled upon it while hiking a woods road from the top of the mountain behind. It's a much shorter hike in from rt. 209! This is a nice site to visit in the spring as there are hundreds of daffodils blooming at that time. Since this is on NPS land, I had to make the cache virtual. Parking is at the gate (do not block!) at N41 14.779 W74 51.693. To take credit for this GC please answer the following questions.

Marie Zimmermann Stone House

A riverview cache. Not far, but not easy

The road shoulder is plenty wide for stopping here. The one thing which makes this place very un-cathedral-like is the traffic noise. Alas. But take some time anyway to enjoy the pleasure of soft pine needles underfoot and a view the river. Remember the terrain rating and don't go down. The coordinates gave us fits. Maybe it would be best to take your bearings from out in the open and then pace it off into the woods. OR don't worry about coordinates. Find that place in the woods where, when you look up, you realize you are in a cathedral of pines. At that point you will be within 15 feet of the cache. Bring your own pencil. RevRover's advice is: There are lots of situations where looking up is precisely the best thing to do.



Pine Cathedral Cache

Promised Land State Park area. Recommended to pick up a Promised Land Trail System map at Park Office on RT 390-(ask for one over the counter). Drive down to the Lower Lake area to park--nice hike from there following the trail guide.

This cache is a red plastic Folgers coffee container. From trail point 98 on Logger Trail-take the Snow-runner trail approx 200ft. You will see a orange/red snowmobile marker on the trail. From there go SE or 150 deg. off the trail for about 150 ft. You will see 2 rocks that look like they could have been one but split in half.



Promised Land cache

This puzzle cache is hidden in tribute of a great friend, Kevin, a.k.a. Shoob&Sheeb, in recognition of his 2000th find.

As his geo-name implies, Shoob&Sheeb has no more loyal friends than “man’s best friends,” Sheeb and Slater (and the late Shoob). The elder, Sheeb, is the reliable, well-behaved one who nevertheless finds her way into any stream, puddle, or mudhole around. Slater, on the other hand, is the younger, more energetic of the pair, an endless fountain of fun-loving enthusiasm that leads to throwing caution to the wind.

Retrievers of the Golden Ark: A Tribute Cache

Near this location there is a gently flowing stream that you can take a short walk to read your mail. If one reads the logs its not front and its not on top of the mailbox. As of today September 11, 2008 at 4:00PM (I checked after I got off the bus) the cache was there and the "O" ring is rusted

The cache is a vial that is silver and it is alright to touch the mailboxes.

Secret

This is a three virtual cache hike (4.25 mile round trip) located on the Pennsylvania Side of the Delaware Water Gap. Both members of Team Dakota & Cheyenne were born just a short distance from here. We have found lots of great places to hike in the Gap and decided to share this one with you. To confirm the success of your hike, you will need to e-mail us the descriptions of the three virtual caches.

One third of this hike is along the beautiful Adams Creek, another third takes place through the overgrown pastures of the old Marie Zimmermann estate and the final third takes you through a series of Pine and Mixed Hardwood forests. The total distance “as the crow flies” is 3.7 miles. We estimate the actual walking distance to be more like 4.25 miles. Given the difficulty of the first third of the hike, coupled with the amount of scenery you will see, you should plan on spending four hours in completing the hike.

Shades of the past.

This cache is located on Kipp Island on Lake Wallenpaupack. Could be fairly difficult for some as a boat is necessary.

     A boat is required for this cache. While swimming to the island is possible, I highly advise against this as there is much boat traffic during the swimming season. The container is a small tupperware style container. The cache is big enough for trade items, however, please keep them small. Use stealth whilst searching for this cache as there is much activity during the summer season. The island's hours are from sunset to sunrise, so it is unadvisable to attempt this one at night. Please rehide it exactly as you found it! The lake and its islands are owned and operated by PP&L. There is a free launch at N 41 27.527 W 75 11.330. If you launch your boat at another marina, park, etc., you will probably have to pay. As always, please practice CITO and obey all boating laws!

The Riches of Kipp Island

Cache contains log only, please bring a pen. No bushwhacking or long distance walk to cache. Cache is located near parking area for Wallenpaupack Dyke. Enjoy the sunrise or sunset. Please replace cache where you found it.

Prior to 1926, only a stream flowed through the area that is now Lake Wallenpaupack. Leni - Lenape Indians named it "Wallenpaupack" which means "The Stream of Swift and Slow Water". The land at one time was owned by William Penn who deeded it to his son, and then to James Wilson, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Wilsonville; the site of PPL Companies Hydroelectric Dam, and at one time the county seat of Wayne County, was named for James Wilson.

Wallenpaupack Dyke

Like its predecessor, Where Poppies Blow and Whistles Sing, this cache was originally hidden to honor our veterans and bring the cacher to a breathtaking final location, one of the best in Pike County, IMHO. This is now a traditional cache with less math involved, but the cacher is still encouraged to pay respects to the many veterans who you'll meet on the way.

The entrance to this location is found along route 209 just South of Milford and very near its intersection with route 206. Please note that the site is available from 8am - 8pm. Please show the greatest respect for the location you'll be visiting. While only a few veterans were chosen out of many represented here, please respect them all as you do this cache.
