You will need to bring your own pen to sign the log. The cache size
has been changed to a micro. We changed it because the original
container was muggled. Unfortunately, this park has a history of
muggled caches. We hope the new container lasts awhile!
It's time for an infamous mother in this series.
This cache takes a look at Agrippina the Younger, the infamous
Roman Emporer Nero's mother, and the first woman to hold the title
of Empress in the Roman Empire.
Agrippina was the second wife of the Emporer
Claudius (following the assassination of his first wife,
Messalina). He was considered politcally weak, and Agrippina
started pulling the strings and assumed control of several major
areas of the government. It is said that she poisoned him and his
son Britannicus so that her son, adopted by Claudius, would be the
Emporer.
After several failed attempts (the most elaborate
of which included a boat rigged to sink at sea; she was the lone
survivor with just a shoulder injury), he began to fear his mother
would seek revenge on him. He sent someone to finish her off before
she could complete a plot to kill him.
