Postcards of Home #5 Downtown River Stroll Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

saf47: My apologies to all. I really liked this cache but am not able to maintain it at this time. It has been inactive long enough and it is time to archive it. Hints for the final in the series have been updated.
Thanks

Geocache Description:

I have long been collecting postcards of my hometown of Galt Ontario and have thought of a way to share some of my favourites. This is the fifth of five in my Postcards of Home series. There will be a hint in each of the caches for the location of the sixth and final cache. Each cache will contain copies of some of the various cards in my collection.

#5 Downtown River Stroll

Parking can be found at N43 21.786 W080 19.101

For the last one in this series I have decided to try something different, hopefully you will like it. At the posted coordinates you will find a container. In this container you will find 2 bundles of postcards. Please take one of these bundles with you (to be returned at the finish). Please take only one bundle per group of cachers in case another group comes along while you are out.

On each of the cards is written a number and the coordinates near to the area of where the photo was taken (where possible). Before you start please take a moment to make sure the cards are in numerical order and try to return them the same way. The cards with coordinates written in black are for observation and interest only and are not necessary to complete the cache. The cards with numbers and coordinates written in RED (numbers 3, 4 and 15, 16) are sites that you have to visit to collect information or perform an action in order to get to the final and sign the log.

All of the sites are on the route of the stroll although some maybe on opposite sides of the road. Please be careful crossing the streets, especially during busy hours

In order to find the final you will have to gather the following information:

At the site of card #3 you will find a plaque, on the plaque X is the numerical value of the month in which The Mill Race was opened.

At the site of card #4 you will see the building depicted on the card. Above the door you will see the year the building was constructed. Y is the last number of the year it was built. 190Y. (You might have to think like a Roman for this one).

Now on cards 15 and 16 there is a prominent feature in common on both cards. Stand in front of this feature (It’s safe………I promise)………survey the area you’ll see the spot, and project a waypoint YX0 metres (that’s YX zero) at a heading of 173° true to find the Tupperware (actually it’s a small lock & lock). As usual for this series there is only a log book in the cache and very little room for much else.

The hints for the final cache in this series are not in the final but instructions for finding them are.

Please enjoy the stroll of just under a 3km loop. It is almost entirely on street or paved pathway. Difficulty rating comes from the first 60 or so metres and the last 10. You will pass by many shops and restaurants (anything from fine dining to hotdogs and ice cream). Take time to sit in the Horticultural Society gardens or view the Cambridge Sculpture Garden.

Cache should be accessible in all but spring flood water levels. Take caution and if the water looks too high....don't go near it.

Caches in the Postcards of Home series are:
#1 Prospect Park
#2 High Park
#3 Jackson Park
#4 Dickson's Bush
#5 Downtown River Stroll

Postcards of Your Home-Mosquito Park
