Geocache Description:

This cache is one of 12 in the Medina County Parks Nature Nut Trivia Hunt Series. You do not have to participate in the trivia series to do this cache, but we hope you will anyway! Be sure to bring along paper and pencil to write down the question. Let’s keep this fair for everyone and please DO NOT include answers, or hints to the answers, in your logs on geocaching.com.

Each cache contains a nature trivia question. Find all 12 caches to obtain the questions, research your answers at home and submit all 12 of your answers to the questions at one time via e-mail to stender@medinaco.org by November 30 and become eligible for a grand prize. Only submissions of correct answers to all 12 questions will be eligible. You will receive a reply e-mail when your answers have been received.

Buckeye Woods Park is the largest park in the system. Named for the graceful stands of Buckeye trees along its creek, the park offers a diversity of terrain and activities. Amenities include soccer and softball fields, a reservable picnic shelter, picnic tables and grills, two playgrounds, and a three-acre fishing pond. A paved, accessible path circles the pond and wooded areas of the park and provides a great place to walk for exercise or enjoyment. The new 2.2-mile Chippewa North Trail has a gravel surface and meanders through upland pine stands to wet woods and created wetlands. This trail has a variety of interesting habitats for users to experience. The trail loops around a wetland restoration project on the north side of the park.

The trail to the cache can be accessed from either parking lot (see coordinates listed below). A regular sized container is located within about 15 feet of the trail, so please do not bushwhack. Please remember to cache in and trash out. Park closes at dark. Round trip distance from parking lot to cache is approximately 1/2 mile.

Once you find the cache, why not extend your hike? It's a scenic 3/4 mile walk from here to the Schleman Nature Preserve trivia hunt cache. Enter the park via the footbridge at the waypoint listed below.

This cache will expire on November 30, 2011.

If you have questions or concerns about any of the caches in this series, please contact Shelley at 330.239.4814 or stender@medinaco.org.
