Geocache Description:

This cache is one of 12 in the Medina County Parks Nature Nut Trivia Hunt Series. You do not have to participate in the trivia series to do this cache, but we hope you will anyway! Be sure to bring along paper and pencil to write down the question. Let’s keep this fair for everyone and please DO NOT include answers, or hints to the answers, in your logs on geocaching.com.

Each cache contains a nature trivia question. Find all 12 caches to obtain the questions, research your answers at home and submit all 12 of your answers to the questions at one time via e-mail to stender@medinaco.org by November 30 and become eligible for a grand prize. Only submissions of correct answers to all 12 questions will be eligible. You will receive a reply e-mail when your answers have been received.

Green Leaf Park was the first land to be developed as a county park. It was once a gravel pit but visitors to the park would never know its past as they enjoy the grassy slopes and wooded nature trail. The park provides the setting for the early 1800's Hard family log cabin. One of the earliest homes known to exist in the county, this structure was moved to the park by the Sharon Historical Society. The Medina County Herb Society maintains an herb garden near the cabin for park visitors to enjoy. Other park amenities include: a small fishing pond, active recreation facilities in the form of a football/soccer field, two reservable picnic shelters, and a sledding hill.

The trail to the cache can be accessed from either parking lot. A regular sized container is located approx. 25 feet off the trail, so please do not bushwhack. Please remember to cache in and trash out. Park closes at dark. Round trip distance from parking lot to cache is approximately 1/4 mile.

This cache will expire on November 30, 2011.

If you have questions or concerns about any of the caches in this series, please contact Shelley at 330.239.4814 or stender@medinaco.org.
