Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates. These coordinates are for Cooks pond. When you have deciphered the cache you can then visit the final for this mystery cache. It is currently a micro cache but I have plans to upgrade it to a small container.

Here I was doing a maintenance run on my cache, “A Famous Old Watering Place”, for another cacher that had inquired if it was still intact. I did this before my bi-yearly dental appointment in Ballston Spa and I finished rather quickly, making me early for my cleaning. Most people read magazines whilst waiting for their turn. I “read” the Jimapco Map, scanning for potential cache locations. This cache, and one other, are the results of that scanning. Oh, and did I mention I was doing this on my birthday? No?!?! Well, Happy Birthday to me!!

To help you out a bit, I will even give you a link to help you decipher what you see below. The symbols used were used by permission of Mark Millmore. You can find out more information about him and his book, hieroglyphics, etc. at: Hieroglyphs

I have placed periods between words to help you out a bit. Also, some letters are not represented in hieroglyphs so I had to take certain liberties with some words. If it looks funny, then this is the reason. If you have any questions/problems/comments, then please email me.

Bast is the Egyptian cat goddess. A goddess of the home and of the domestic cat, although she sometimes took on the war-like aspect of a lioness. Daughter of the sun god Re, although sometimes regarded as the daughter of Amun. Wife of Ptah and mother of the lion-god Mihos. Her cult was centered on her sanctuary at Bubastis in the delta region, where a necropolis has been found containing mummified cats. Bast was also associated with the 'eye of Re', acting as the instrument of the sun god's vengeance. She was depicted as a cat or in human form with the head of a cat, often holding the sacred rattle known as the sistrum.
