The coordinates are not real. They are the coordinates for what used to be the Tee Pee bar years ago. My memories of this bar were the realization that I had one too many to drink when my hand loosened up just a smidgen and my glass crashed to the floor. I’m a sissy drinker and I think that night I was having all sorts of flavored Schnapps!DO NOT LOOK FOR THE CACHE HERE!

Not all of the names will make perfect sense for each location and having an Egyptian god who is in the form of a crocodile will have no real place in our area that totally suits it. This one is close, though, as if he were to live in an area, this area would be the type in which it would be.

My friend/co-worker of some 16 years first suggested hieroglyphics for use in a cache and that is where the craze started. Blame him, blame Doobie, the man nick-named as such since his real name is “Michael McDonald”, famed singer of the Doobie Brothers.

To do this cache, you will first have to decode the text written in Egyptian Hieroglyphics. Do not fret, I will even give you a site that will help you. It is simple substitution after that. This is the fifth cache made like this, joining Khonshu, Bast,Isis, and Wepwawet. If I complete this cycle then I will have another 19 caches! Yikes! I better get busy!!

To help you out a bit, I will even give you a link to decipher what you see below. This cache’s symbols are a bit different that Mark Millmore’s. Can you figure out the difference to find this cache? You can find out more information about him and his book, hieroglyphics, etc. at: Hieroglyphs

I have placed periods between words to help you out a bit. Also, some letters are not represented in hieroglyphs so I had to take certain liberties with some words. If it looks funny, then this is the reason. If you have any questions/problems/comments, then please email me. If Sobek is giving you trouble, why not try Googling until you see the likely symbols?

Sobek

(Greek Suchos)

Egyptian crocodile god. Sobek symbolized the might of the Egyptian pharaohs. Son of Neith. Depicted as a crocodile or in human form with the head of a crocodile, crowned either by a pair of plumes or sometimes by a combination of the solar disk and the uraeus (cobra). Sobek was worshipped to appease him and his animals. According to some evidence, Sobek was considered a fourfold deity who represented the four elemental gods (Ra of fire, Shu of air, Geb of earth, and Osiris of water). In the Book of the Dead, Sobek assists in the birth of Horus; he fetches Isis and Nephthys to protect the deceased; and he aids in the destruction of Set. His cult was widespread, although the Faiyum was particularly noted as a center of his worship, where one of the towns, Arsinoe, came to be called 'Crocodilopolis' by the Greeks. Kom Ombo (north of modern Aswan) and Thebes in Upper Egypt later became centers of his cult as well.
