Earth
Earth is the third planet from the sun and the fifth largest. It was not until the time of Copernicus (16th century) that it was understood that Earth is just another planet. The earth is divided into several layers which have distinct chemical and seismic properties. Earth is the only planet whose name does not derive from Greek/Roman mythology. Earth is 4.5 to 4.6 billion years old and over 70% of the earths surface is covered with water.
This cache is located in Cane Creek Park which is located in Union County NC, near the South Carolina state line. There is a small admission charge to enter the park ($3.00 per vehicle) but it is well worth the cost of admission to visit because there are many other activities to do while at the park. Be cautious of park closing because they are a little strict on being out before dark.
