Herefordshire is one of the most unspoilt counties in England, being predominantly rural and sparsely populated. It is well known for its apple and pear orchards and cider production. The county city Hereford is an ancient cathedral city and holds regular livestock markets, selling the world famous Hereford cattle. Other major towns in the county are Leominster, Ledbury, Bromyard and Ross-on-Wye. The beautiful river Wye meanders through the county from its border with Wales down to Symonds Yat with spectacular views. There are numerous castle ruins all along the border with Wales and dotted all about the county are the beautiful black and white villages such as Weobley and Eardisley.
