The beauty of fractals

For this 10th installment in the Seattle Jigsaw puzzle series, we went for gorgeous pictures. The 8th grader in the family has been working with fractals for a school project. That reminded me of the intense interest I had for a while with chaos theory, the Mandelbrot and Julia sets, and the concept of self-similarity. This cache is dedicated to chaos! All you need to do is assemble the jigsaw puzzles below, do some very simple algebra and then go find the cache. The algebra is of the form that is actually used to generate the Mandelbrot set of fractals.

The hide location is an interesting spot I stumbled around while looking for a fun place to put a cache. You are looking for a small mint tin. You might need the assistance of an extraction tool.

The puzzle answers are in decimal degrees. If you round everything to 4 decimal places and then do the conversion to decimal minutes, the resulting checksums are 26 for both N and W.
