Not one for anyone who is terribly scared of heights or for
young kids (although they'll probably enjoy watching the
grown-ups). However, the place where you might cross (if that's
what you think you need to do) isn't really all that narrow. Mrs ST
has made it clear that she won't be the one to replace full logs,
so perhaps that gives you a feel for the scare level (but, to put
that into perspective, she gets quite scared by the second rung of
a ladder ). Also this is a very popular spot for
angling muggles so there may be times when grabbing the cache,
without being caught, is v.v.v. difficult.
This is one of a series of "Dam Fine" caches. Each is loosely,
or sometimes very tenuously, linked to a dam theme. Other caches in
the series include:
There is very limited parking at a few places on Aurs Road
(<8 cars). A waypoint for the biggest space is below.
Whatever you do, don't walk along Aurs road (it's not safe).
There's a path down to Ryat Linn which leads back up to Aurs Rd at
a safer crossing point for Balgray. There is also a small parking
space (2 cars only) at this crossing place, but it is usually full.
A waypoint for the tiny space is also below.
If you do take the wee path that runs down to Ryat Linn then
look out for the staircase, as pictured below. It takes you up to a
crossing to a structure that sticks out into Balgray and provides
great views of the reservoir. A magnetic nano was tempting but we
suspect it might have ended up in the depths.........
More information about the dams and the country park can be
found on the pages for the Ryat Linn and Waulkmill Glen caches if
you are interested. Otherwise please just enjoy the hunt !!!
