A Dam Fine Cache 3 - James Hamilton Heritage Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sweeney Toddlers: Geolitter retrieved. The cache was easily fixable but the hiding spot has become very fragile over the last two and a half years and won't last much longer.

Archived, rather than finding another spot, because two and a half years and nigh on 100 finds is probably enough for any cache. Time for something new [^]

Geocache Description:

This whole area is extremely busy. We have tried to place the cache well away from the busiest areas but a significant degree of stealth will be required to avoid giving the whole thing away. The cache is a 35mm type micro. You’ll need to bring a pen to log your find. We think this one is pretty easy, particularly if you have done our Titwood one. The coordinates are good so why not try without the clue.....................................?

We'd be happy to respond to email if another hint is required.
Some local roads are very busy (with fast traffic), especially at rush hour, so please be very careful if you have to cross any!

This is one of a series of "Dam Fine" caches. Each is loosely, or sometimes very tenuously, linked to a dam theme. Other caches in the series include:

We had to make a cache here. This place has all the hallmarks of the perfect park. A nice, flat, short walk (or scooter when the wee ST's were smaller) round the water followed by coffee and a great bun in a cafe with a view. There's even a castle!

What about the dam? Well it's more of a man-made loch, but it does have some dam-like structures at one end of it - presumably to stop it from overflowing.

We remember driving past here, not that many years ago, and seeing the place being excavated. Apparently, it formally opened in 1996. The park is particularly impressive with Mains Castle overlooking it in the background.
