One stage of the
series.
The
first ever West Tennessee Mega Multi Cache is
HERE!
To complete this cache series you must successfully hunt 14
separate caches, hidden by 14 different geocachers in the West
Tennessee area. The names of all of these caches will begin with
WEST TN MEGA MULTI. At each of these caches you will be given a
clue that will enable you to determine the coordinates of the final
cache, a LARGE metal box containing an assortment of above average
trade items, items in the $5-15 range.
This stage of the First Ever West TN Mega
Multi Cache is hidden in the historic
PINSON MOUNDS STATE PARK! Pinson Mounds, one of two
state archaeological parks, is a special park, set aside to protect
the prehistoric remains found there. Managed by the Tennessee
Department of Environment and Conservation's Division of State
Parks, the Pinson Mounds grouping consists of at least 15 earthen
mounds, a geometic enclosure, habitation areas and related
earthworks in an area that incorporates almost 1,200 acres. Pinson
Mounds is a national historic Landmark and is listed on the
National Register of Historic Places. The park features a museum
designed to replicate a Native American mound. It includes 4,500
square feet of exhibit space, an archaeological library, an 80-seat
theater and 'Discovery Room' for historical exploration, park
offices and the West Tennessee Regional Archaeology Office.
The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sunset Mondays through
Saturdays, and 9:00 a.m. until sunset on Sundays. A nice map of the
park can be found
HERE. This cache should only be hunted during park
hours of operation. No after dark caching please. You may ride a
bike on paved and gravel trails only. No bikes are allowed on the
Nature Trail, Earthworks Trail or Boardwalk (these are foot-traffic
only). Children under the age of 16 must have a bike helmet. There
is a bike rack to park your bike at the location where you must
begin traveling by foot. Pets are allowed in the park, but they
must be on a leash.
Please stay on the trails while seeking this cache. You will NOT
have to venture off the trail to retrieve the cache. As you can
understand, due to the archaeological and anthropological
sensitivity of this historic park, all cache seekers must adhere to
these guidelines. This cache has been approved by the Park Manager,
so long as cache seekers respect the guidelines and the
park.
