ZC#12 'Somewhere, over the road from the rainbow.' Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired/replaced it, I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

Geocache Description:

No pencil , need tweezers
A quick drive by on its own, or the start of a new ZC series (you know they won't be normal) circular 2-3 hour ish walk of 8 novel caches on and around the lovely 'Hafod' in Gwernymynydd, inspired by the Mold Monsters wonderful Gwysanney walk I did very recently, and loved every minute of.
I have tried to make a series that will be memorable ...

(please encrypt any spoilers)

Welcome! to ZagCatt's new seriese - The Hafod, (see map of route as uploaded image) and starting with this little gem less than 57 seconds into the trail to get you warmed up for a 2 hour, 8 cache (if a are good!) lovely, easily walked and very pretty countryside circular tour, starting at the Rainbow Inn car park (see waypoint) ( Thanks Badger14 for letting me place in his archived area) and ending at the Rainbow Inn car park.(may even catch a rare ZC sighting in here if I am lucky)

I promise no Ivy, and no fingersnail small nanos .. the smallest even if micro or 'other' is not finger tip sized, smallest container is 2 inch by 1 inch.
The path is obvious and either very good path or lane, and if you follow the cache sequence is easily navigated.

... some caches are easy too, some not, but in such a lovely place, you will not mind coming back to have another try.

If coming from far away, and not likely to return, I will be happy to email more detailed clues if required. If local and just plain stuck, email me.
Better to cache for a couple of hours that to go for a 2 hour cache!

Enjoy the views. Initially to the North east over the wirral , and Beaston castle way , cheshire plane, to the peak district on a good day ( half way across the country!) then you will get views to the west and Moel Famau,.. super at sunset.. and finally back around to the vast east cheshire plane again.. I never get bored of looking across here.

The path is all public footpath and you don't need to deviate off it. I have put caches in places that will take to along the path so no need for OS maps unless you fancy it.

The seriese if to be circular needs to be done in this order:

1:Somewhere over the raod from the rainbow (this one) 1 min from car park
2: GC25M2Q ZC#13 Finger Lichen Good (7 mins gentle incline, nearest parking is rainbow inn)
3: GC24VKT ZC#14 Chick or Egg? ( 10 mins flat walk, nearest parking is rainbow inn)
4: GC25Q2B ZC#15 Tiny(10 - 15 mins gentle downhill over nice fileds over 2 styles, nearest parking of doing seperately see waypoint on page)
5: GC25Q3E ZC#16 The devil and the crossroads ( very gently up hill over nice field - 5 mins, nearest parking of doing seperately is 400 yds away -see waypoint on page)
ZC: GC25Q3K ZC#17 Zagcattalogue (4- 5 mins walk - 3 styles and flat, can be muddy for 100 feet, nearest parking of doing seperately is 50 yds away - see waypoint on page)
GC25Q3M ZC#18 One eyed Willy (15 mins walk on flat country lane, past Plas Hafod Hotel, nearest parking if doing seperately (drive by) is 2m opposite
GC25Q3Q ZC#19 The Black Rabbit of Inle ( 10 mins steepish uphill, but great views behind when stop to take a breath! and and I love this crafty cache! if doing seperately then park at either the rainbow inn or one eyed willy
If at ZC19 then you are just 15 mins or less from the car park now, and all gently downhill.
From ZC19, Just follow coords for 'somewhere over the road from the rainbow' to get back to lane where started, .... will need to cross to a 'blind' style across a horse field, but they are utterly harmless, really nice horses..no worries, if come to you are only curious.

ENJOY! and add 8 to your total
