Geocache Description:

Thid is just a great and fun find. Bring your binoculars and camera to see all the ducks, geese, swans, nad especially in Winter the Bald Eagles!!!

The Find should be easy, the only problem will be the fallen branches, sticks and just a Fairly short treck to the find. There is no real path to the site, so stay close to shoreline for best and easiest way to the find. You may have to duck some fallen trees, and hop over other logs and such.Some slight bush whacking, and notmuch of a path to follow. Because of the tree cover and the bluffs, my gps gave me a 45 foot error in the final co-ords…but this should still be very close. Cant miss this one!!!!!! tHE ROAD IS LOCATED AT N38 56.359, W90 17.159. THIS WILL TAKE YOU TO PARKING LOT. MAY PARK ANYWHERE NEAR OLD CLOSED DOWN SNACK BAR. CO-ORDS OF 38 56.228, AND W90 17.201 PLACE YOU ON ENTRANCE TO WOODS....FOLLOW CO-ORDS. AT CACHE SITE, MANY WILD LIFE BIRDS ETC. AT THIS TIME MANY EAGLES GATHERING, SO GREAT SITE TO OBSERVE THE WINTERING EAGLES.
2005 GREAT GEOCACHING RACE

THIS CACHE IS THE STARTING AND ENDING POINT TO THE CIVIL WAR RACE. THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT AND WELL FOLLOWED RACE ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

AT THE START OF THIS RACE, THERE WILL BE MANY TRAVELBUGS WITH THE GOAL OF TRAVELING ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND VISITING 4 MAJOR CIVIL WAR SITES.
THE GOAL OF THIS RACE IS TO VISIT THESE VERY INTERESTING SITES AND HAVE THEIR PHOTOS TAKEN AT THESE SITES. THEN THEY MUST RETURN TO THIS CACHE FOR THE WINNER TO QUALIFY FOR BRAGGING RIGHTS!!!!

THIS IS A WELL ORGANISED RACE FOR THE ALTON AREA GEOCACHERS WHO VERY MUCH ENJOY GEOCACHING, AND WE ALL FEEL YOU ALL WILL ENJOY THIS FIND AND ALSO ENJOY THE RACE ITSELF AND FOLLOWING THIS RACE. BE SURE TO CLICK ON WATCH THIS SITE SO YOU CAN FOLLOW THE TRAVEL BUG CAR YOU CHOSE TO MOVE ON, AND I HOPE YOURS WINS THE RACE.
