Die Wohra entspringt im Kellerwald knapp 1 km nord-nordwestlich von Battenhausen.
Ihre Quelle befindet sich am Osthang eines 542 m hohen Berges, der sich südöstlich des Großen Keppelbergs (490 m ü. NN) befindet.
Die Wohra umfließt ihren Quellberg zunächst in Form eines nach unten offenen Halbkreises im Gegenuhrzeigersinn, um schließlich in südwestliche Richtungen den Kellerwald in Haina zu verlassen. Ab Haina bewegt sie sich ausschließlich in südliche Richtungen und durchfließt Gemünden, Wohratal und Rauschenberg, bevor sie nur etwas südwestlich von Kirchhain in die Ohm mündet.
Wer den Wegpunkten folgt ist zwar etwas länger unterwegs, kommt aber relativ leicht bis nahe an die Quelle. Der Weg Luftlinie vom Parkplatz ist zwar viel kürzer, kann aber an einigen Stellen Terrain Level 4 erreichen.
Bei nasser Witterung sind feste und wasserdichte Schuhe erforderlich, man muß aber nicht im Bach herumwaten. Im Sommer ist mit hohem Bewuchs (Brennesseln) zu rechnen. Daher für Kleinkinder unter 4 Jahren nicht geeignet.
Inzwischen sind die letzten 200 m komplett zugewuchert. Der Waldweg, der hier langgeht, ist nur noch zu erahnen. Daher Terrainwertung auf 4.
English description:
The Wohra has it’s source in the Kellerwald approx. 1 km north- northwest from the village of Battenhausen. The spring is located at the eastern hillside of a 542 m high mountain south-east to the Großen Keppelberg (490 m above NN).
The Wohra is flowing around her source mountain counterclockwise in form of a half circle with it’s opening to the south. She leaving the Kellerwald in south-west direction at the village of Haina. Hencefourth she’s flowing straight to the south passing Gemünden, Wohratal and Rauschenberg before reaching the river Ohm south-west of Kirchhain.
It’s recommended to follow waypoints what’s a little bit longer track but will lead you quite comfortable near to the source. The air line distance from parking place is much shorter but will reach terrain level 4 at some points.
At wet weather waterprooved sturdy shoes are strongly recommended altough it's not necessary to wade trough the creek. In summer you have to face with lots of stinging nettles. Due to this cache is not recommended for children below the age of 4 years.
In the mean time the former trail is totally overgrown on the last 200 m so that I decided to increase the terrain level to 4.
