These
caches do not need to be done in order, but the story flows a
logical sense when read in order.
All
parts of this story assume Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd
Edition Rules – Monstrous Manual reference. I know it is archaic
now, but the story was written with that universe in
mind.
DRAGONS
OF LETHBRIDGE
Few people
nowadays remember, and there are fewer records still about the
Dragons of Lethbridge.Lethbridge
provided one of the best breeding grounds and terrain for Dragons
of days gone by. They had been pushed out of their traditional
breeding grounds in Europe, fled from China, and moved north
through the continent from the warmer, more southern climes to the
area of Lethbridge.
The summers
were hot, the winters cold, but the coulee and the
Oldman
River(during this time known as
the Belly
River)
provided ample grounds for a small population of Dragons to
flourish. Alas, over time, a great many of them have vanished, but
some clues can be found among the rubble-strewn areas, where now a
highway runs through.
PART VII –
VILUSTUMENIN
In the northern parts
of Alberta, there were other dragons still alive.
Mostly, these were the dragons of ice that preferred the colder
climate. These dragons were not overly smart, but what they lacked
in intelligence, they more than made up for in aggression.
Vilustumenin was one of the stronger ones, and had known the
Villain while he was alive.
Upon hearing of Huldig’s
victory over the Villain far to the south, Vilustumenin flew into
an inconsolable rage. He called together the council of dragons in
the north to explain his intentions to go southward, track down
Huldig, and kill him. The council was not opposed to this action,
but they feared losing their leader for a protracted period.
Vilustumenin was strong, especially for an ice dragon, but they
doubted whether or not he was stronger than
Huldig.
Vilustumenin decided to head south, with or without the council’s
approval. Skyde had been a good friend to him in days gone by, and
hadn’t looked at him with the same kind of disapproval due to his
lack of mental agility.
Although the exodus had already started, Vilustumenin knew roughly
where they had gone. He did not have the same time constraints as
Huldig in tracking their own kind. Perhaps, Vilustumenin thought,
he might even be able to get ahead of Huldig.
Maybe even, he thought, ambush and kill the venerable
giant...
To find this cache:
Determine what kind of dragon Vilustumenin is.
Then:
Add the maximum damage listed for this type of dragon’s breath
weapon (at nine years old) divided by 100 to the
northing.
Subtract the minimum experience for killing a dragon of this
type divided by 10 from the westing.
You’re looking for a regular sized lock ‘n lock.
And remember, this area is covered in the winter, as one would
expect an ice dragon’s treasure to be.
