Geocache Description:

Cache #4 in my Harry Potter celebration series

The Triwizard Tournament was first established some seven hundred years ago as a friendly competition between the three largest European schools of wizardry: Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. A champion was selected from each school, and the three champions competed in three magical tasks. The schools took it in turns to host the tournament once every five years, and it was generally agreed to be a most excellent way of establishing ties between young witches and wizards of different nationalities--until, that is, the death toll mounted so high that the tournament was discontinued.

-- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, 2000
--J. K. Rowling

When Harry Potter's name came out of the Goblet of Fire, he was obligated to complete the three tasks of the Triwizard Tournament. I was going to try to recreate those tasks for you, but the import licenses for the Dragons kept getting denied and the Honorable Guild of Merpeople wouldn't return my calls. I did get a maze set up though. :)

The first stage of this cache had a magical bracelet in it which helped you find the final stage. However, the bracelet was also apparently a disappearing bracelet. I was able to hire a sphinx in from Egypt to replace the bracelet. I had to write in some pretty generous terms into his contract, so he might be on break when you show up. But he has instructions to give everyone a riddle to get past them. I'm sure he'll think of some way to give you the riddle while he's on break.

Be sure to watch out for spiders, dementors, errant Bulgarian Quidditch players, and other obstacles. It is a maze after all.

Both stages are close to trails, and there is very little need for bushwhacking. In the winter or wet weather, the approach to the final could be a little treacherous, so exercise due care.

Congrats to toowired for the FTF.
