TREKKING TRAVERSE
TRAILS
Muncie Lakes Pathway is in the Pere Marquete State Forest like Sand
Lakes but in many ways is it's opposite. It is crisscrossed by two
tracks which see heavy use by snowmobiles in the winter. On the
other hand, also unlike Sand Lakes, the trails are groomed for
cross country skiing by the DNR. For that reason, next to the Vasa,
it is the most popular CC Ski trail in the area.
The Pathway consists of over 10 miles of well marked trails, the
longest is a 9 mile loop. There are shorter loops of 7, 3, and 1
1/2 miles. The trail goes to Muncie Lakes, a series of small lakes
and marshes, about 2 miles. The long loop goes north to Dollar
Lake, and passes very close to Island Lake then swings south and
comes back along the Boardman River.
It is not necessary to
jump through the sticker/pamphlet hoops to log this
cache.
We got the idea for our Trekking Traverse Trails series from a
similar series in Florida. As a reward for the first 50 who wish
one and who complete the series, we have created a Path Tag on
which is the Traverse City logo. To acquire a tag, stop at the
Traverse City Visitors Center(
GC17HZ4), and pick up a free Trekking Traverse Trails
brochure.
In each cache container you will find a sticker for that cache.
Paste each of the ten stickers in the brochure, mail it in, and we
will sent you your tag.
The ten trails with caches in the TTT Geo-challenge are;
