Planläggningen av området började 1933. Funktionalismivraren Uno Ahrén var stadsplanerare och Harry Kjellkvist gjorde ritningarna. Tomterna är på 400 m² och husen var från början på mellan 50 m² och 80 m². Det fanns tre olika typer, ett plan med källare, två plan och tvåplans radhus.

Det som gör att många tycker att egnahemsområdena är charmiga är att husen har byggts om med tiden så att i stort sett varje hus har fått sin egen karaktär, trots att de har sitt ursprung i samma ritning. På sätt och vis är egnahemsområdet som en symfoni med otaliga variationer kring ett gemensamt tema.

The planning for the area started in 1933. Functionalism proponent Uno Ahrén (1897-1977) was the city planner and Harry Kjellkvist was the architect. The plots are 400 m² and the houses were from the beginning between 50 m² and 80 m². There were three different types of buildings, one floor with basement, two floors, and two floor terraced houses.

What makes many people think that the egnahem areas are quaint is that the houses have been extended over the years, giving virtually every house its own feel, even though they are based on identical plans. In a way the egnahem area is like a symphony with numerous variations around a common theme.
