The Sumerians inhabited the area that is now Southern Iraq. Although their knowledge of the World was in many ways far inferior to our own, they knew truths that we have since forgotten. For 5,000 years one of the Sumerians most sacred texts lay hidden- the text that described the dawn of life. If it had not been for Hanaan Abaas Naayef, the text would still be undiscovered…
Hanaan was a little known confidant of Saddam Hussein. He was an unusual figure in the regime because he was a Shiite Muslim; but he was also one of the regime’s most powerful members. Saddam had given him one task: to find that sacred Sumerian document that described the dawn of life and to deliver to him the secret of the jyotirmaya. Saddam knew that if he could find the jyotirmaya, ultimate power would be his. What the West did not appreciate was that Iraq’s greatest asset was not oil, but a document that first the Sumerians and then the Shiites had guarded for thousands of years.
Hanaan was a clever but brutal man. He killed and tortured his way across Iraq in his quest for the text. Even as the country came under attack from the coalition forces, he continued his mission. Then, as the regime imploded, he finally found the information he needed. He left Baghdad for the holy Shiite city of Najaf and the house of a cleric there. A few hours later the cleric lay dead and the ancient document was in his hands. With so many secrets to hide, Hanaan fled Iraq. He knew the value of the document, but he needed a translation. I was one of the few people who could help him.
Hanaan contacted me and we met along a path near a river. He promised me a share of the power of the jyotirmaya if I helped him interpret the document. He was a foolish man; the power of the jyotirmaya cannot be shared.
And now Hanaan will never hold that power; nor will he ever breathe again.
Like an excited schoolboy, I read the ancient cuneiform text. Deep in the document, I found a passage that referred to me-lám , the Sumarian word for jyotirmaya:
Abzu was all
Nothing lived but darkness
From the sea the Creator rose
The darkness called him Anu
Anu looked upon the darkness
A light came forth and it was life
Me-lám, me-lám, mankind is born
What Hanaan had not realised was that this was just half of the original text. I had already found references to the other half in the writings of Guru Narayana. I knew that it was hidden near the ancient city of Varanasi in India.
Within the week I was in Varanasi, and you, my student, will follow me there in spirit soon- but not yet. First you must find the sacred number of Anu, who is also known as An, and add it to that which you already have as you will need it to open the door.
Find the number, then find the place I met Hanaan. Make sure you record what you find there, for you will need it on your quest...
