Obelisk: Ancient Marvels Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

DarkZen_EvilCowPie: Letting this one go due to the stair removal and replacement with barb wire~~making it tough to access this field now. Hidey-hole has fallen apart so I grabbed the ammo box for a new spot. Thanks to all who visited!! Archiving.

Geocache Description:

***NOTE: Cache is not at the posted coordinates. To find this cache you must follow the instructions below.***
At this Ancient Marvel you are looking for an ammo box. Please re-hide it well!

Having first discovered the "Stonehenge of Santa Cruz" near the UCSC campus, we scouted further and found spots resembling other ancient marvels, at least in OUR minds! We hope that you will search for all of the hides we planted here: a multi, a puzzle and some traditionals of varying sizes.

Obelisks were prominent in the architecture of the ancient Egyptians, who placed them in pairs at the entrance of temples. The word "obelisk" as used in English today is of Greek rather than Egyptian origin because Herodotus, the Greek traveller, was one of the first classical writers to describe the objects. Twenty-nine ancient Egyptian obelisks are known to have survived, plus the "Unfinished Obelisk" found partly hewn from its quarry at Aswan. These obelisks are now dispersed around the world, and less than half of them remain in Egypt.

The Multi
To get this cache, go to the posted coordinates. There you will find an "obelisk" with a five letter inscription on it. Convert the letters to numbers (A=1, B=2, C=3, etc). Add the numbers of the first two letters together. Add that sum to 060 to get the last three numbers of the North coordinates.
Add the numbers of the second two letters together. Add that sum to 138 to get the last three numbers of the West coordinates (the last letter is not used).
N36 59.???
W122 04.???
Check sum: N=12, W=13

To access these caches, you can park in the West Remote Parking Lot #127 on weekends and holidays for free or there are meters in Parking Lot #162~~bring your quarters!
