caccbags: Olivia Noelle isn't as active any more. I had been out-of-state for 7 years so I can't commit to any continued maintenance. So freeing this space up.

Geocache Description:

Olivia has been working on learning her numbers for a while now, and I thought that I would start on some basic arithmetic while we were at it. The other day I decided to grab a newspaper while we walked into a local coffee shop. As Olivia and I sat and waited for our order, I turned to the page that has the crosswords, the sudoku, and another nifty little puzzle that was going to help me teach Olivia addition.

Kakuro puzzles resemble crosswords which use numbers instead of words. The aim of the game is to fill all the blank squares in the grid with only the numbers 1-9 so that the numbers you enter add up to the corresponding clues. When the grid is filled, the puzzle is complete.

Kakuro puzzle grids can be any size, though usually the squares within them have to be arranged symmetrically. As a rule of thumb, the more blank squares a puzzle contains, the harder it is, however this isn't always true, especially if it is a good quality puzzle.

It is very important to note that a proper Kakuro puzzle has only 1 unique solution, and it will always have a logical way of reaching it, there should be no guesswork needed.

Duplicate numbers
You may not enter any duplicate number in the same run, therefore a true solution is using only the numbers 1-9 without duplicates, so that they add up to the clue square given.

I mention this because a cacher just came to me and informed me of a solution that did not check with certitude, and asked for my help. I apologize for not including the Duplicate Number Rule in the original write up of this cache.

This cache was place where I obtained my first Kakuro puzzle a couple of days ago. It was only minutes later that I learned that I am horrible at them. Hopefully you are not.

Here is an example:

Here is your puzzle:

Here is your puzzle in which the numbers (in red) correspond with the order of the coordinates to find the cache. The numbers in red are NOT solution answers, since the numbers to solve the puzzle are only 1 - 9. IF the number in red should be the same as the solution number, then it was by coincidence only.

I am sure that there are Kakuro Solvers on the internet, but if I managed to brute force through mine, I am sure that you can get through this one. It was rated as “Easy,” but then again, I do not know who’s word the puzzle book was going by.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
________________________________________________________
You may have seen this type of puzzle cache before. I highly doubt that I am the first person who has created one of these, but I have not seen one in the Bay Area, (Well, above Highway 92), so I thought I would put one here.

I think that this is the last puzzle cache where I am going to use all 15 numbers. Most people know that it is somewhat of a requirement that the puzzle coordinates be within three miles of the actual cache itself. Therefore, it is moot to have the first two numbers of the north coordinates, and the first three numbers of the west coordinates listed in these caches since they are going to be in the bay area.
