Geocache Description:

Update: 4/24/2020  I adjusted some of the math to reflect the correct answer to one of the questions even though the math did really bring you to the right area to search just before the final.

Update: 6/6/2020  I have changed out this container. You will NEED something magnetic to narrow down the access options to get into the container.

Difficulty level changed from a 2 to 3 because of the added element with the final container.

I got this idea for the container from watching Geocache Talk Gadget Talk Podcast on Youtube.com.  Bouncebounce, a local Washington geocacher, walks you through how to build a gadget container on the 1st &  4th Tuesday of each month at 8 pm CST.

*************************************************************

Your mission if you want to accept it. You solve the puzzle here to get the coordinates to 1 WP.  At WP, you will find the coordinates for the final.

*************************************************************

The above coordinates is only for checking out the small community that once was a bustling town in the 1800's. Don’t forget to take the time to browse through the “Uptown Seabeck” antique & collectible shop.

I would love if you rehide the cache well, so others can enjoy it.

This was our first Cache.

You now have to do a little reading and surfing.  Don't get wet!

On May 13, 1792 Captain George Vancouver started sailing down an inlet in the Pacific Northwest.   He said “I will call this Hood’s Channel after the Right Honorable Lord Hood”.  Records show that although he named many places channels in his journal.  He wrote them down as canals on his charts.  He sailed into a pleasant harbor that was named Scabock by an earlier explorer, Captain Charles Wilkes.  The Indians called it L-ka-bak-hu.  The Territory of Washington misrecorded it and it became Seabeck.

Marshall Blinn sailed into this peaceful harbor with the financial backing of Washington Mill Company.  The Indians come in their canoes to watch the strange white men saw, pound and drive stakes.  Little did they know that this would be the end of their hunting grounds and that huge ships from around the world would crowd the bay where they had fished for so many years.  No more would they bring their departed to the sacred burial grounds, now known as Misery Point.

In 1918  Marie and Albert Halvorsen had an opportunity to lease the Old Washington Mill company store.  They then moved the operation to the Seabeck dock where the Seabeck store still operates. You can pick up souvenirs, snacks and drinks here.  If you want to sit, take a load off your feet and have something to eat.  You can step around the corner and down the dock to Barbie’s Café.  Or how about a slice or a whole pizza from Seabeck Pizza.  Don’t forget your latte at Seabeck Espresso.

What year did the steamer Retriever sent a spark onto a pile of lumber? A

The History of Seabeck or Seabeck, Washington

What year Captain Vancouver sailed down what is now called Hood Canal? B

 A - B + 28 = C

Betty Grable, Robert Cummings and Don Ameche starred in the movie “MOON OVER MIAMI”.

What year (last two digits) was this movie filmed? D

In the mid 40’s the Rumba craze was at its height.  A song was composed to celebrate the huge contribution the Cuban people made to south Florida’s culture and lifestyle.  Its name was “MIAMI BEACH RUMBA” composed by Irving Fields.

What year (last two digits) was this song composed?  E

 D + E + 26 = F

WP-1:  47.39.C/122.50.F   This will take you to where you will find the coordinates to the finals resting place!

Sunbathing on this beach won’t give you the tan as Florida’s.  Take a moment to view the scenery and Olympic Mountains.

Be aware that there is a parking fee for day use of the area.  There is overflow parking across the road.  At certain times of the year, this area is heavy with a lot of muggle traffic and their non-flying enchanted machines that they use to transport their water vessels.  Please be respectful of non-cachers property also.

Have fun…  We sure did enjoy plotting our first cache.
