Geocache Description:

(Formerly) the Most Westerly Physical Cache in England! (Formerly called "Scilly Season", til 1/2/16)

After the unexpected success of my 'extreme' Event Cache on St Kilda in June 2007, I wanted to hold something a little more accessible... Britain's Second Most Remote Event (St Agnes) seemed to fit the bill.

So I brought a caching group to Scilly in June 2008 for an event at St Agnes' extreme south point, on the 21st. As such, we had the shortest longest day we could in the UK.

As I've always liked islands, St. Agnes looked ideal for the event, and after a little prompting by Bambogrophy, this commemorative cache too.

St Agnes is the most southerly populated island of the UK (the Channel Islands are further south of course, but they're a Crown Protectorate, not a part of the UK) and so represents another extreme. The Isles of Scilly are also the most westerly part of England, making this one of England's most westerly caches. The St Kilda trip visited the most westerly part of the UK (if we -perhaps- ignore Rockall for a moment! If we don't, I have an Earthcache there..!) - July 2012 update: And other caches, including Hell Bay on Bryher. My mistake. January 2016 update: Hell Bay (2001-2015) has sadly been archived. A genuine shame.

THIS CACHE IS HIDDEN ON A TIDAL ISLAND! IT WILL NOT BE ACCESSIBLE AT ALL TIMES! This link should help you plan your trip.

Burnt island is off the north-west coast of St Agnes, and is linked to it by rocks at low tide. Care must be taken when crossing, as these can/will be slippery. At the end, you'll hopefully find some wonderful views as well as the Small (formerly a 35mm Micro) cache. Please post a photo with your log and good luck!

Caches in the 'Simply Scilly' series:
Scilly String (St. Mary's, IOS) - The Final or Bonus cache, tying them together.
Scilly Walks (Bryher, IOS) - A nice walk on Bryher.
Scilly Sausage (Burnt Island, St. Agnes, IOS) - This Trad cache. Note: TIDAL!
Scilly Putty (view of Gugh, St Agnes, IOS) - Originally near a golf course..!
Scilly Haircut (Samson>St.Marys, IOS) - Not on Samson, but a visit is recommended.
Scilly Season (St. Martins, IOS) - A Wherigo cache; download the Cartridge in advance.
Scilly Billy (Tresco, IOS) - Set in 2012 as IoS first Letterbox/Hybrid. Find it in two ways.
Scilly Questions (Somewhere on IOS) - A nice easy puzzle.

Placed in memory of Paul's dad Mike Smith who died June 23rd 2005 and Chris's brother David Bamber who passed away June 26th 2007. Both very sadly missed.

26th June 2018: Today is this cache's 10th birthday! Thank you to all 179+ past finders for looking after it. Here's to another 10 years of happy caching!
