Ghost Train Merrimack Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Oreb: Although the cache is on town land an abutting neighbor who just moved in has requested that the cache be archived to avoid traffic next to their property after the cache was recently found by some geocachers.

Although the cache is not on their property and predates their home I'm acceding to their request as it doesn't seem to fit in with the spirit of geocaching to have an upset neighbor. The cache has had a good run over the last almost eleven years. Thanks to all who searched for it!

Oreb, the CO

Geocache Description:

Small lock-n-lock type container. Perhaps room for some small things. The public is allowed down the driveway but on foot. The owner of the house down the driveway has an easement on the driveway but does not own the driveway, which is owned by the Town of Merrimack. When you park on the road, please don't block the driveway or the mailbox. Please be respectful regarding time and noise if you walk down the driveway to the cache.

We've long been intrigued by the Milford and Manchester Railroad that was only in use for a few short years. There is already at least one other cache on the old railbed ( GC17K8M ) in Amherst, but I thought it would be nice to have another one.

This cache is placed near the old railroad bed near Baboosic Brook in Merrimack. You can follow the old railroad bed to the cache.

There is a residence fairly near to the cache but on the other side of the brook, so some stealth may be required (especially with there are no leaves on the trees) and night time caching with flashlights is probably not a good idea. There is also the old railroad bridge embankment close by so if caching with very young kids one should keep a close eye on them so they don't get too close to the old bridge site by themselves.

Congrats to Rokhead on the FTF!
