One of seven plus bonus in a series "Secrets of Codes" caches commemorating the past history and true leaders of what we know as the “Puzzle”. The Cache is not at the published coordinates, so please don’t go there unless you are really looking for places to visit.

While the title of this cache is slightly misleading, as the picture on the album cover is meaningless, the intent was correct until the marketing people got hold of the concept and changed it.

With the need to send messages over long distances became more and more apparent in Post-Revolutionary France. Two brothers came up with the concept using mechanical towers, which later formed the basis for the hand held version of communication. In a trial carried out in 1790 between Paris and Lille (230km’s) a message was relayed in a period of 32 minutes.

While it was quickly replaced in part by the electric telegraph it was used in various guises by many nations for the next 120 years. Today in Frankton, Hamilton, you are able to view a more modern version of the original system that was adapted for industry.

Not quite up with today’s expectations thanks to mobile phone and text speak, but still a vast improvement on what had come before.

There is likely to be very high muggle activity at or nearby to the GZ so please choose your time well.

In each cache in this series is a clue to a bonus Cache Mad Scientist GC33ZJQ Please keep note of these additional clues as you will need them for the Bonus.

The Secrets of Codes Series can be found
