Little Notch is an adult female platypus who gets her name from the small notch in her bill "shield", possibly caused by the sharp claws of a freshwater crayfish. Little Notch is one of several platypus who have been encountered many times during on-going APC research at Toorourrong. Her emerging life-history record is contributing greatly to our understanding of this elusive species.

Headed up the mountain (Mt Ruapehu) for a day's skiing and stopped off at the 'Mounds' to see what all the fuss was about - Geologically very interesting, with superb views - Then off to the snow... 😁

Picked up from The Legend of Pihanga cache, not Tongariro as advertised but have included a photo of the latter as I was also there earlier today and it was quite scenic 😁
