Trophy Travelbug by TrailRun

I love running trails, and mud's the best,
Please give me a hand in running west.

Basic mission: WEST Please move me west if possible, but if not I'd just like to keep moving. My owner will post his running mileage and see if he can outrun me. My preference is to hit some good trails on the way west, and then to make the jump to Lahaina, Maui.

Although I'm a long way from winning hardware, I love to run, and geocaching has provided me with a lot of new and interesting destinations.

Around the time I turned 40, my brother inspired me to run my first marathon and it has been very rewarding.

I began trail running during marathon training and my favorite events have been on trails, including Dances With Dirt (www.danceswithdirt.com), and the Tecumseh Trail Marathon (www.dinoseries.com).

The starting cache for this TB is near one of my favorite trails. The mud on the trophy was inspired by the "This Sucks" leg of Dances with Dirt. Here's my loooong race report from DWD 2005: (Visit link)

Up until March 12, 2007 I was holding my own against Trophy, but it made a big move and I have some catching up to do. The graph below shows the mileage over time. On November 17, 2007 Trophy reached its goal of reaching Lahaina, Maui and it is now stopped (I hope) with my brother. Maybe sometime I'll catch up. I plan to keep logging miles here as I make progress. (That will be slow in the near future until some knee problems are resolved.)

Picked this up in Montana yesterday and took it to Idaho with me last night. I had a picture taken of the trophy with me and my college track coach who was inducted into the Idaho hall of fame last night. Coach Keller, who coached at the University of Idaho for 25 years between 1974 and 1999 was also Dan O'Brien's coach when Dan won the 1996 Olympic gold medal in the decathalon. Congratulations Coach on a great career! msomt

Grabbed this one at the MOOG CITO event. It's off to the Idaho Sports Banquet tonight, where my old college track coach is getting inducted into the state hall of fame, then the TB will be placed where it can keep moving west. msomt

Hmm. I am now...somewhat...behind. Moreso because I haven't run since last Sunday, and it's Friday. I'll post the numbers and a new graph when I have a chance to figure them out.

Pretty funny P.I.D., huh? I still want to get out caching with you some time, but lately I'm having a tough time getting out of the office during the week.

Yep, it has now been offically placed in a MT cache. This Trophy may have to go home with the cacher who CITOs the most stuff tomorrow!

Yeah, I love to run. 😁 Uh, er, racing? 🤭 Well I... I meant... uh, yeah, I guess "racing", but only when I'm ahea... No, no, I meant, racing in the general sense, not in the, you know, the keeping up thing... uh, let's say we call it "comparing" for the next year or so. 😌

Soooo then. That's "Montana" as in the "State" of Montana not some suburb of Richmond, Virgina? Cause if you're talking suburb, I'm less than 500 miles behind. 😎 No you say? 😮 But it's eastern Montana, right. Because in Montana that matters.

Seriously though I'm glad it's headed west because I want it (and me) to reach Maui eventually. With this change I'll be behind by about a year or more of running, but I'll continue posting the miles.

For the record on 3/30/07 when this was picked up I was 473.25 miles behind.

Didn't realize you were racing this bug... hope you like running! We picked it up in Virginia and it is currently at our home in Montana. Will try to drop it soon to give it some offical miles, expect to have around 1900+ added... :) On the plus side, it headed WEST!
