Good ol' Sudsy! I first saw Brian Sutter play way back in 1976-77, with the Kansas City Blues of the old CHL. The KC Blues were a farm club of the NHL's St. Louis Blues at that time, and they came through here (Salt Lake) to play the Golden Eagles several times that year. Sudsy played on a line with fellow rookies Bernie Federko and Rick Bourbonnais. That line tore up the old CHL that season, and the KC Blues went on to win the Adams Cup that year.
The very next season, Sutter and Federko became regulars with the parent St. Louis team, and the Blues switched their CHL affiliation from Kansas City to Salt Lake, and Rick Bourbonnais and many former KC Blues wore a Salt Lake uniform that season. Sudsy was a gutty player, and very highly respected by teamates and foes alike. It was fun to see all six Sutter brothers playing in the NHL at the same time a few years back. I've seen their jerseys in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Brian has enjoyed a lot of coaching success since he retired after the 87-88 NHL season. His jersey #11 was retired by the Blues.
Anyway, I'll try to help Sudsy on his way to the next hockey town on the map! San Jose, maybe?
