About This Item

Helmets

1.       One crash kills most helmets. That Styrofoam layer between the shell and your head is your best friend. The expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam) crushes under impact to give your head approximately 6/100ths of a second extra stopping time. That 6/100ths of a second can be the difference between you getting back up and riding off and having to relearn the alphabet. The foam also distributes the point of impact over a larger area.

2.       Proper Fit

Your helmet should neither dig into your scalp nor flop around. The better the fit the more protection you will have. To ensure proper adjustment start with the interior pads. Most are held in place with adhesive or hook and loop strips, which can be added or removed to customize fit or to wash when they get dirty. Next adjust the straps so that each V-buckle is positioned right below your ears, then cinch the main buckle so two fingers barely fit between your chin and the strap. To make sure the helmet is fitting correctly push the front of your helmet up. If it moves more than 1 inch, tighten the chin straps. Repeat with the back adjustment.

We just had to take the nerd coin with us to this cache that kungfuhippie put out to honor his new baby and the thread stealers who awaited the arrival with almost as much intensity. With zoesbrother being a major thread stealer, we figure that the nerd coin is at least an honorary one.
