Helmets
1.
One crash kills most helmets. That Styrofoam
layer between the shell and your head is your best friend. The expanded
polystyrene (Styrofoam) crushes under impact to give your head approximately
6/100ths of a second extra stopping time. That 6/100ths of a second can be the
difference between you getting back up and riding off and having to relearn the
alphabet. The foam also distributes the point of impact over a larger area.
2.
Proper Fit
Your helmet should neither dig into your
scalp nor flop around. The better the fit the more protection you will have. To
ensure proper adjustment start with the interior pads. Most are held in place
with adhesive or hook and loop strips, which can be added or removed to
customize fit or to wash when they get dirty. Next adjust the straps so that
each V-buckle is positioned right below your ears, then cinch the main buckle so
two fingers barely fit between your chin and the strap. To make sure the helmet
is fitting correctly push the front of your helmet up. If it moves more than 1
inch, tighten the chin straps. Repeat with the back adjustment.

The nerd coin was of no help to us in solving the Hassle at the Castle mystery, but we found quite a few works of art in downtown Denver that rival the glittery teal of the nerd coin!

Hey, nerd coin! You made it to the oldest active cache in the world! The cache is so old that zoesbrother was a mere lad when it was placed. 😈 Hope you enjoyed your visit!

Had to take the nerd coin to a Kansas cache. Our great-nephews who were traveling with us wondered if this huge cannon could be used to shoot people out of at the circus. 🤡 If that were to be the case, a helmet would be a definite must-have!

Great rest stop as we entered Missouri from Iowa. We told the nerd coin that the bison were only sculptures, but it still preferred to stay safe in the car rather than pose for a photo.

Another road trip for the nerd coin! It stayed in the car for most of the trip, and since it's seen most of the states we visited already, it didn't pose for too many photos, not even at this rest stop as we entered one of zoesbrother's favorite states.

Took the nerd coin with us on this new section of the Ice Age Trail, a section that coin owner zoesbrother was hiking on himself less than a week ago. Had a nice walk in the woods, and we were going to have the nerd coin pose by the new IAT sign here, but we'd left the camera at home! Unbelievable for me! But maybe we'll be back over here someday soon to take a belated photo. Meanwhile, the nerd coin liked the Ice Age Trail. 👍

Took the nerd coin over to the other side of the river to check out the views in the park there and to log another Minnesota cache on its travels.

The nerd coin went camping with us! While it didn't do all the socializing that we did, it managed to avoid doing any of the work, and it stayed nice and dry through all the rain we had for the weekend! 😈 Another event in the books for the nerd coin!

Since we have been taking this nerd coin all around the country with us on our caching adventures, we decided it needed to see a bit of Wisconsin with us, too. That is why today the nerd coin climbed the hill with us to find the oldest active cache in Wisconsin at "Pike Powder Hike". It even came out in the rain a few times to pose for photos! 😈

We figured that the nerd coin has been with us on so many of our recent travels, it may as well claim a bingo on this National Parks Challenge cache, too. Also, the final for this challenge is on a segment of the Ice Age Trail in southeast Wisconsin, and the nerd coin knows how much zoesbrother likes hiking the IAT.
