About This Item

58 vette

The Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of the sports car by the Chevrolet division of General Motors introduced late in the 1953 model year and produced through 1962. It is commonly referred to as the "solid-axle" generation, as the independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Sting Ray. The Corvette was rushed into production for its debut model year to capitalize on the enthusiastic public reaction to the concept vehicle, but expectations for the new model were largely unfulfilled. Reviews were mixed and sales fell far short of expectations through the car's early years. The program was nearly canceled, but Chevrolet would ultimately stay the course.

In an era of chrome and four headlamps, the Corvette succumbed to the look of the day. The 1958 model year and the four that followed all had the exposed four-headlamp treatment and prominent grills, but a faux-louvered hood and chrome trunk spears were unique to 1958. The interior and instruments were updated, including placing a tachometer directly in front of the driver. For the 1958 model only, an 8000 rpm tachometer was used rather than the 6000 and rpm units typical in 1955. Optional engine choices included two with twin carburetors (including a 270 hp  model with Carter 2613 and 2614 WCFB four-barrels) and two with fuel injection. Power output for the highest rated fuel-injected engine was 290 hp. Displacement remained 283 cu in. For the first time, seat belts were factory-installed rather than being dealer-installed as on previous models. Rare options were RPO 684 heavy-duty brakes and suspension, RPO 579 250 hp engine, 15 by 5.5 in. wheels.

Order of the Phoenix 2: we were going to just grab the APE cache and call it quits but decided to go for more since it stopped raining. Followed the creak bed. Made the find easily.

Visited 12/31/2022 Pengwinldy took it to Drip Drip California - .99 miles  Visit Log

Drip Drip: It started raining as we pulled up. How appropriate. We went down the slope towards the creek and looked around the pipe. Lots of trash! Expanded our search. Read some logs. Many were saying it was a quick park and grab. What? Then when we got back to the car we saw it. Don’t look at the hint or the other pictures. They’ll throw you off. Also, you can make this grab in heels.

Visited 12/31/2022 Pengwinldy took it to Observation Required (SD15) California - .73 miles  Visit Log

Observation Required (SD15): since Fry’s is closed there are fences around the parking lot. Thankfully, we were able to walk outside the fence and still reach the cache. Not only did we find the cache but a tiny jumping spider as well. So cute.

Visited 12/31/2022 Pengwinldy took it to L.U.M.P. #3: What is She Saying? California - .6 miles  Visit Log

L.U.M.P. #3-What is She Saying?: I had a friend that always mixed up sayings. “Walking on sea shells”, “ don’t count all your eggs in one basket”, etc. Got to GZ and it took quite awhile but with a little help, we found it. Keep in mind the D/T rating, but we found it on the parking lot-not street side.

Visited 12/31/2022 Pengwinldy took it to LPC - (CA) Happy Birthday Challenge California - .18 miles  Visit Log

LPC-Happy Birthday Challenge (CA): Challenge complete (see photo)
I think that I shall never see
A cache as lovely
As an LPC….
A pole that looks at the sky all day
And brightly chases the dark away!
Its base of concrete
And bolted feet
Bear a skirt
Giving shelter like a yurt
To jar, bottle or vial
From the drugstore aisle,
Keeping safe and secure
A log for signature
Which will give me in a while
The elusive yellow smile.
Not obvious, kinda drab,
An easy Park n' Grab!
Like atmosphere, the air,
These skirt lifters are everywhere!
Birdhouse, ammo can, URP,
Virtual, multi, cemetery,
None can surpass the ease,
The ubiquitous number, of LPCs!

Blcok 2 Block#04: Headed down the road and saw there was another cache so stopped for it. There was a sign nearby for a lost pup. I hope they find her.
