Geocache Description:

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Time magazine has been publishing "THE PERSON (Man, Woman, People or Thing) OF THE YEAR" since 1927. This year, 2006, it is "YOU" (the Users of the World Wide Web). Perhaps in 2007, it will be "The Geocacher".

The coordinates listed are for the recommended parking at the Oakdale Picnic Area in the South Mountain Reservation off Cherry Lane (Brookside Avenue) between South Orange and Northfield Avenues in West Orange.

In order to find the cache you will have to solve the following puzzle. All the necessary information is available on the Internet. Insert the last digit for the year that each cover represents in the equation below. The results are the coordinates for the FIRST STAGE. It is a camouflaged theme associated object from the Times Cover of 2002 and contains the coordinates for the FINAL STAGE and CACHE. Both stages are most easily accessed from the paved path. They are even closer to the parallel Oakdale (Red) trail. The last bit of the Final Stage can be slippery. Please be careful. Stealth Required!

The coordinates for the First Stage, a theme related TAG from the Time's cover of 2002, are:

N 40° (A+2) (B-2) . (C+2) (D+1) (E-4)

074° (F-2) (G+1) . (H-4) (I) (J-2)

Checksum = 60

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

The Final Cache is an Ammo Can containing:

      • FTF Token
      • Cache Specific GeoPins
      • Log, Pens & Pencils

      Because of variable GPS reception, please use this HINT for the Final: Nestled in front of a moderate to large sized lichen covered boulder about 5 feet from a hanging clue at shoulder height. PLEASE USE THE PHOTO HINT!

      We hope you enjoy this cache as much as we did placing it.
