Cache is placed in a new park in the Only New Virginia in the
World.
This land was donated by Gerry Allen's parents to the city in
his memory after he died.
It began as a brushy, weedy pasture but many volunteers have
spent a lot of hours cleaning it up. They have built a dirt pulling
track for tractor and pick up pulls and have installed lights on
the track.
Several of our local Boy Scouts have done their Eagle Projects
here: a regulation horseshoe pitching pit and a walking path which
are both on the south side of the park.
Sean's Eagle Project was the woodchip walking path. I have known
him since he was a little boy, so placed a cache here in his name.
I wanted to place it on the trail, but there is just no where to
put it, but it is not far from the end of the trail.
In 2006 a building was put up which will eventually have
electricity, a kitchen and bathrooms.
There will also be more trails, plants, bridges, a history area
where the narrow gauge railroad ran through the park and many other
additions.
Some day this park will be a beautiful and useful park for our
community to use and enjoy.
I have received permission to place this
cache in the park from the New Virginia Area Development
Corporation. They even donated a small youth t-shirt that
says, "The Only New Virginia In The World" for the 1st person who
has a child that can wear it.
There is a letterbox inside the cache. Please
do NOT remove it or it's contents. Bring your ink pad and
personal stamp to stamp the letterbox logbook.
Please replace the cache as you found it.
