The above coordinates take you to the parking
area for this two-stage multi-cache, which takes you on a walk by a
small pond in the woods. Depending on the weather conditions, the
trail can get muddy, and at times you will be walking on uneven
boardwalks. It is especially pretty in the snow!
Take Route 35 to the Roundabout in Kennebunk;
Wood Pond Lane begins here and the trailhead and parking are at the
end of the road.
This is a residential area with very limited
parking, and Park Rules make this a
DAWN TO DUSK ONLY
CACHE!
Stage One coordinates are: N 43 23.713 W 070
32.482. (The tree cover etc is making this a little difficult right
now so as of 6/19/09 I am adding some detail to the directions.)
Okay, so you park, and walk until you see the pond coming up ahead
of you. Then take the right across the wooden foot bridge. Follow
the marked trail towards the Stage One coordinates; it will
eventually split (the pond will be on your left) and you should go
Right on the trail. Walk down the path and eventually you should
site a clearing ahead and to the right. When you reach this
clearing, you should be on the Left side of it. Right in front of
you there is a big tree with lots of branches against it. Take the
path to the LEFT. Keep walking until you are 50-60 ft from Stage
One. You will be taking a Right off the trail at this point. You
will find Stage One at about eye level. Say hello!!
Now that you have your new coordinates, on
towards the cache! Go back the way you came. When the pond is in
front of you again, go Right and follow the trail. When you near
the Final Coordinates you will need to go off of the path to the
right in order to find the cache. Cache is a traditional ammo box
with a variety of items to start it off, including a Geocoin and
four Travel Bugs (three brand new). Have fun!
