You’ve driven straight past so many times, and now it is time to stop and take notice!
The co-ordinates are for where you will be able to park in Leyland Drive (Rugeley) while you collect the information you need. There are no extra hints for you here – just sort out the required numbers from the following items of street furniture. You will have the busy Wolseley Road to contend with, so please do watch out for yourselves, and particularly for the littlies and any cachehounds.
For the northing you will need:
A the number on the bollard by the post on the refuge - now gone! So it is G+2
B the date on the horse trough
C and D the distances to Weston and Sandon
E the number on the short grey pillar close by
F the distance to Lichfield.
For the westing you will need:
G the top number on the post on the refuge. There isn't actually any ambiguity, but it is peculiar.
H the distance to Stone
I the number on the lonely bollard on the refuge - now gone! So it is G - 2
J the number on the lamp post by the horse trough
K the distance to Rugeley.
Start with B – 1000 (call it W)
Now work out C+D and double your answer. Add on E and F. (call it X)
Start anew with G + H (call it Y)
Now work out I x J and then subtract twice K (call it Z)
And the co-ordinates are:
N52 A.(W – X) W001 Y.Z
Once you’ve worked out the new co-ordinates you should drive there. You will be able to park more or less at the cache, so just follow your GPS. It was very difficult getting a good fix on the cache, but you shouldn’t have any difficulty locating the reason why we placed the cache there.
The cache is a Russian doll micro (!) containing a log sheet, pen, pencil and sharpener. There isn’t really room for anything very much else.
