When I saw on Cheesehead Dave's stat website (It's Not About the
Numbers) that our 1000th day of geocaching was coming up, I
decided the fitting way to celebrate would be to place a cache
that I've been meaning to do for a while. There was once a cache
in this vicinity a while ago which was archived. I always felt
that this spot needed to have a new one to bring people back to
this place. (Some of you who did that cache may appreciate that
my hiding style is a bit less Herculean).
This covered bridge was built on the Glacial River Bike Trail
over a period of five months during the year 2000. Reclaimed wood
from a nearby barn built in 1906 was used in the construction which
gives it a nice, weathered appearance. Note that the bridge itself
is wheelchair accessible, but the cache is not. Also, this is a
popular muggle spot during nice weather!
Do not try to access this from Hwy 26 (just not safe) or from
Old Hwy 26 (private property). Park at either the trailhead to the
south or on the cross road to the north. The best approach is on
your bike! But walking works well too.
There is a FTF prize baggie containing the troll in question,
plus one of our signature coins and a mini snowflake.
