Down Under or Up Over? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no response to my previous note, I assume that the cache is not going to be repaired or replaced, so I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

While there were several caches recently put out in the Auburn State Recreation Area, not near enough for such a wonderful spot. So Species5618 and I decided we'd pay homage to the themes of some of the caches placed by others. This cache is placed in what we're calling The District of Oz, in homage to the Australia-themed cache Dak's Emu Mob has nearby.

I've always wondered what our friends the Aussies think of their wonderful continent always being called "Down Under." True, we northern hemisphere folks tend to be rather sphereocentric, but still...Australia is a fine country in its own right. So I vote to start calling our lovely country "Up Over" to let our Aussie mates know that we fully support Australia's outstanding continenthood.

And as an aside, just for giggles, I put my home coords into Google Earth and reversed spheres. The location was close enough for me to use that as the justification for the Aussie theme. Try it!

Many thanks to Species5618 and Oatlet #2 who went out with me to fill in the Oz District of the Auburn State Recreation Area--we had a great time planting caches out there today. Please take the time to enjoy this beautiful area and remember: all the usual foothill caveats apply. For details about the area in general, please see one of the other local caches as I am too lazy to type it all myself, and anyway, why duplicate the effort when it has already been done so well?
