Geocache Description:

Now in its fifth year, the Late Christmas Cache Bash will be taking place on Sunday 28th January, 2006.

Yes, that's right, on Sunday 28th January, we'll be meeting at the Cart & Horses pub, in Kingsworthy (just north of Winchester), less than 50 yards from the A33.

Getting here is simple: from most directions, get yourself to Junction 9 of the M3 (that's the one to the North-East of Winchester) and take the A34 / A33 turning. Keep to the right-hand lane, as after about half a mile the road splits... the A34 to the left, the A33 to the right. Into the 50 MPH zone, around the bend, and take the turning on the left: the pub is about 50 yards on the right.

The pub opens at 11:00am, and Lunch is served from 12:00 noon. The obvious choice is the Carvery, which costs £7.95 for big cachers, but other options are available (just expect a longer wait!). The carvery will be offering Beef, Turkey and something else along with a Yorkshire Pud, Roast & Boiled spuds, and a choice of vegs!

*** Please can you indicate clearly how many of you (adults / kids) will be wanting to have Carvery lunch, so I can let the pub know fairly accurate numbers a few days before: you can post a note here, or drop me an email ***

(Don't worry: even if you just turn up on the day, you'll still get lunch!) They seem to be well organised... last year noone waited more than 5 mins for their roast lunch!

Sadly, once again the skittle alley is booked by someone else, so we'll be spread through the restaurant & pub (like last year)... The only rule is that children are not allowed in the bar areas... they can however sit in the reastaurant area, or in the large area just "below" the restaurant.

There will be be a cache for the day which I hope, like before, will remain and be fully loggable.... I'm planning to put it in a very different area this year!

There's plenty of caches in the area, including "Itchen to get back to the pub (GCMJYQ)", which we placed 2 years ago, plus "Even more Itchen (GCT9WH)" and "A tiny Itchen (GCTA70)" both of which we placed for last year's event: all 3 start just opposite the pub, and can be done on the same walk" (allow about 90 mins to do all 3).
