Springfling 'Oklahoma Cache Run' Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Blaidd-Drwg: It was a great event, and a big thanks go to those who helped organize and run the event. Starting with all of the folks who helped with the organizational meetings and park recons, followed by:
The folks who organized the individual games: Hide and Seek (Icarri), Murder/Mystery (Calamity Kane), Cache Run (OKDoke), and the Kids Games (JandA).
The Help Desk (El Viejo)
Great Food: Ramp and Frog and BSA84.
T-Shirts: Jillcachingin
Misc. Volunteers: These are the numerous folks who helped with the various events, their setup and completion. This group also includes those who gathered and provided prizes given away at the final drawings. Their number is legend.
Cache Hiders: All those who hid caches for the Hide and Seek Game, plus the hider of our Commemorative Cache (MGoose).

Great times were had around the campfires and throughout the campsite as we had ample opportunity to visit and cache together.

I'm looking forward to future events already.

Geocache Description:

The Event Is Over

Come join many of your fellow geocachers for a weekend of fun. This year Springfling is celebrating the centennial of Oklahoma statehood. Thus the theme and title for the event,

OKLAHOMA CACHE RUN

Springfling 2007, Oklahoma Cache Run will take place at Boggy Depot State Park. As in all of Oklahoma's state parks, both tent and RV camping are available. Official start time will be noon on 28 April 2007. Registration is required, so please submit early. There is a cost savings on the meals for those who register before 14 April 2007. So get those registrations mailed in early.

As in previous events, Boy Scout Troop 84 will be providing meals. The fees shown on the registration form are for the cost of the meals. These are a great value, when you consider the convenience and the time savings. This year, in addition to the three meals covered by the basic fees (supper-Saturday, breakfast and lunch-Sunday), the Boy Scouts can provide a sack lunch for Saturday lunch. See the registration form for information on ordering.

A help desk will be staffed starting from 4-8pm on Friday night, from 8am-12pm on Saturday, and finally 10am-12pm on Sunday. The help desk will be your source for information. Please check in at the help desk before the start of the event. The help desk will insure that all participants are registered, and will provide the needed identification for those taking advantage of the Boy Scout provided meals. The help desk will also serve as the point to turn in your Hide and Seek entries. The help desk will be located just south of the event pavilion.

At this time, games are still being developed, but preliminary information looks exciting. As always, there will be a Hide and Seek event, which will allow you to test a sample of your best caches. A murder mystery game based on the musical 'Oklahoma' is being prepared. Also keeping with the 'Oklahoma Cache Run' theme, there will be an game celebrating the Oklahoma Land Run. There are also plans for some games for the younger cachers.

The buttons at the top of this section will take you to another website, where additional information, maps, registration and order forms can be found.

BE SURE AND CHECK THIS PAGE AND THE OTHERS FOR UPDATES
Additional information on the games, and other items of entry will be added as they become known.

UPDATE 13 January 2007 El Viejo and Calamity Kane checked on Hotel availability in the Atoka area. HiWay Inn Express at the intersection of 69-75 and Hwy 7 is brand new. They visited it and went in a room and will be staying there. The cost is $65 for a single and $70-75 for a couple per night depending on which room you take. Rate guaranteed by Monica Lyon. The Best Western on 69/75 just south of Hwy 7 will provide rooms for 67.49 per night (Tracey). Mention that you are geocachers when you make your reservation.

For those camping in the park, rates were Full RV $18, RV Elect/Water $15, Tent $8. These were the rates last May, but should be about the same.

UPDATE 23 JAN 07 Its official!! I have received the first 2 registrations from Jim & Lisa of Jeepfun. they will each be entered in an "early bird "drawing for a goodie basket from Dial-A-Gift. Every registration RECEIVED or POSTMARKED by APRIL 1 (no fooling) will be entered in the drawing to be given away Saturday at dinner. So, hurry and send those registrations in!

Also anyone who wants a Saturday Brown Bag Lunch just e-mail me and let me know. You can pay the $5.00 charge then (no checks-cash only) or send a note with your registration and add the amount to your check. See ya there. Jerrie, Team Ramp and Frog

UPDATE 25 April 07MGoose has prepared a permanent cache for leaving in the park to commemorate the event. This will be the only permanent cache left behind after this weekend.
