Redshirt Revival Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Troll # 5: This was my first placed cache, gosh... has it really been that long? Every time reported missing, I'd go check....always was just not put back where it belonged. The last time checking, retrieved original 16 year old log. Sigh, memories.... the beautiful overlook is totally full of trash... disgusting. Don't want to have cachers see this sad situation. If someone actually finds the poor thing in the near future, drop me a note.

Geocache Description:

Quick drive in and nab, park at site... walk to cache.

If you happen to find it in the wrong location, You're good. Quite a few "cachers" in the past have "replaced" it, in the "wrong" location. Future seekers, if found not where you think it should be, it's probably between point "A" & "B". Once found, re-do the math, and please replace it behind the "correct" post. Thanks !

Scattered all thru California are 1000's of historical landmarks. Most folks assume they are placed by the state, but actually many are placed by various historical societies. Here in the Mother Lode there may be more markers placed by "Clampers" than any other organization. Most folks that know of "E Clampus Vitus" associate them with a bunch of beer drinking guys wearing red shirts that appear occasionally to have a "doin's" and dedicate a new monument. Although they seem to be a "Hysterical Society", rather than historical, they also do a lot behind the scenes in their local communities, donate to charities, give scholarships, and many other endeavors. As the gold rush declined, they seemed to fade away, but the idea to revitalize the organization 75 some odd years ago occurred to one man while passing near this site.

The cache site is another one of those beautiful views of New Melones Lake, and looks across the lake towards another cache. To find the actual cache you must first locate the monument, which most people driving by never knew was there, This is because it's placement follows the humor sometimes shown by "Clampers" to do "absurd" things. Your only task is to read the inscription, find my home chapter, Matuca 18XY. If you are a "Clamper", you can’t use the current numbers as they were different back when this monument was placed. Add X & Y together, and walk that many posts south from the coordinates. Cache is an Altoid's container in a small zip lock baggie.
