Geocache Description:

Whoop it up and go hog wild and have fun, but never be a boar

Oh so close and yet oh so far. Sometimes a cache can be so close to your reach and yet so far from your grasp. This is one of them. You might find yourself with quite a challenging navigating to this little micro, but if you are an extreme enough cacher to make it to this place, you won’t let this little challenge stand in your way. Follow the trail of the hogs, follow the path of the hogs, they will show you the way to this little find. And you will understand the challenge(s) as you near this little gem of Gilley. You may need to be prepared to deal with some mud and possibly some water so the amount of recent rain will definitely affect your chances of a find here.

This micro cache is hidden away in a beautiful section of the Gilley Tract Preserve in eastern Manatee County. You can find a map of the trails and tract information from SWFWMD’s webpage and find out about this 5,800 acre preserve by visiting this link : (visit link) This was hidden during an extreme sunrise to sunset mountain biking trip with Treadmark and Cache-U-Nuts thru the Gilley grounds.

There are enough multi and single stage caches in this area to make a full day of it so check all the caches that make up the realm of nothingness. You can start you adventure by parking at N27 29.881 W82 18.695 and you can hike or bike to tackle this little challenge, or even tackle it on horseback if you wish (plenty of quiet secluded parking for horse trailers, too). ABSOLUTELY DO NOT try to short cut and park down Oak Knoll Road, a little dirt road that may appear to be a shortcut as this road is marked NO TRESPASSING and it's private. There is a primary path to access the tract lands but this area has a couple different paths to reach. You can head left or right at the parking area and reach the cache from either. You can bike or hike (both of which are a challenge) and tackle this in under two miles but with so much more to do out here you should plan on making a day (or more) of it.

Enjoy the hike and please re-hide as well as you found it to keep it fun for the next extreme cacher and this is a micro so be sure to bring your own pen.
