Geocache Description:

*You are welcome and encouraged to trade from the Seattle or New Orleans bags -- they are not off limits! Just remember to trade fairly!* :)

This cache is located on the fringes of Hines Park, overlooking Newburgh Lake. The "hunt" for the cache leads you along a nicely maintained, wide trail that goes completely around the lake. The trail isn't really accessable by car so it's very safe for walking, biking and even horseback riding. It affords nice overlook views of the lake almost the whole way. You are welcome to bring your lunch and sit at the nearby picnic benches to enjoy the view. You may even see the Wayne County Mounted Police riding through on their frequent patrols of the area. The stables for the mounted division are directly on the other side of the lake.

The theme of this cache is "Favorite Cities". We're hoping that cachers will place trinkets or mementos related to their favortie cities into the cache. While it's not required to do so, I think keeping on theme would keep this from turning into a run of the mill cache.

The beginning contents of this cache are dedicated to two of our favorite cities: Seattle and New Orleans. In the Seattle bag is: rain poncho, Seattle bookmark, Jimi Hendrix CD, Ivar's clam chowder recipe and half of an oyster shell from the beach. In the New Orleans bag there is a pirate patch, pirate bookmark, coupon for one free drink at "The Morgue", mardi gras beads and my recipe for authentic gumbo.

There should always be a couple of kid-appeal items here -- started with a slinky, bracelets and a magnetic game. (Watch kids near the slope to the lake -- there is no need to go over the slope to get to the cache)

The cache is in a medium sized rubbermaid container with an ivory colored lid. Please let us know if it needs maintenance and please, trade fairly -- no junk in the cache! Have fun. (Don't sweat the muggles that may stare/wave at you from nearby office; you have permission to use the parking lot)

*NOTE-- Do not attempt to get down to the lake (the cache is NOT down by the lake) by going over the drop-off. It is much steeper than it looks and could be dangerous.
