This cache is situted along the route of one of my favorite road
runs, a mile or so from where I live.
A visit here would provide you with a restful stopping-off point
if travelling north or south on the M6. The lanes and bridges are
narrow so allow yourself up to an hour to complete this cache.
If travelling north, exit at junction 37. If travelling south,
exit at junction 38. You then need to navigate your way along a
number of small country lanes that run parallel with the M6. Make
sure you take the lanes on the east side of the motorway and River
Lune.
As you enter the valley you will experience breathtaking views
of the Lune Gorge and the Howgill Fells much of which can be
obscured or missed when travelling along the busy motorway.
There is a grassy parking area at the top of the hill to the
south of cache.
Alternatively, you could consider parking about a mile and a
half south of Tebay Village and walking out and back to the cache.
The two mile route takes you along some lovely off-road trails and
quiet country lanes right to the cache site. For the more
energetic, your return route on foot could take you up and over
Blease Fell or alternatively, up Carlin Gill to Black Force then
back to Tebay.
The cache is placed only a short stroll from the road but it can
be wet underfoot.
Take time to sit and enjoy the scenery and perhaps paddle your
feet in Carlin Gill.
