San-Lee Park is located in Lee County, 4 miles Northeast of Sanford on Pumping Satation Rd. San-Lee Park is a 160-acre park offers walking & hiking trails, a mountain bike trail, a Nature Center, playground, picnic facilities, campgrounds and two stocked lakes for fishing. Paddle boat and canoe rentals are available seasonally.

ABOUT SAN-LEE PARK

In 1933 a new water works plant was built that supplied the city of Sanford with water. In 1972 the water works plant was moved to a new location and the "old" water works was left for the public to use and abuse without regulation.

In 1975, 90 acres of the water works plant were donated to Lee County from the City of Sandford with one provision: the county must build a park on the premise.

San-Lee Park was thus established with a two-fold purpose; 1) to provide the citizens of Lee County with a recreational and eductional learning area, and
2) to preserve and protect a small but unique animal and plant community in Lee County.

San-Lee Environmental Education and Recreation Park opened on June 15, 1978. Over the years additional land has been purchased and the park is now 143.88 acres of pine and mixed hardwood forests, ponds, and streams.

The park, open to the public Monday through Sunday, year round, provides the citizens of Lee County with many outdoor education and recreational opportunities.

THANKS TO THE STAFF HERE AND LEE COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION FOR ALLOWING US THE HONOR OF PLACING THESE CACHES OUT IN THIS GREAT PARK OF THEIRS. PLEASE ABIDE BY PARK RULES AND RESPECT NATURE.
