SQ – Witches Ball Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-allenite-: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project used by both the Northwest Ohio Geocachers and the Indiana Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens.

It is a good distinction to put on this type of cache and would like to see it used more here in Michigan. Please be respectful of the area, and observe their rules and posted hours, Michigan law states that you are only permitted to visit cemeteries dawn to dusk through out the state unless posted.

This unusual cemetery in Memphis has quite a bit of history, and also something else rather unusual. It is listed in the Shadowlands Haunted places index.

It is well worth stopping by to admire the stones and history here. It is a small cemetery with a narrow dirt road that runs through. At the very back of the cemetery there is a huge black marble stone called the "witch's ball". It is said, if you get close enough you can see faces and shadows in the stone, just like a crystal ball. Voices have been said to be heard and apparitions have been said to be seen there too.

The cache is a medium size loaded ammo box with trade items younger boy or girls would like. The grounds through the cemetery are easy walking, while the last 15 feet to the cache is much rougher terrain. There is no need to cross the fence or look around any graves for the cache.

I recommend younger children wait and watch the last few yards to this cache.

Watch the thorns and your footing!!!!

Congratulations on FTF Team Namthcof
